Honoring an Advocate Staying the Course, Lighting the Way

We are celebrating Sarah Olson’s commitment.

Some people bring light wherever they go and this CASA volunteer has been shining brightly for more than a decade.

Since joining CASA Essex in 2013, she has been a steady flame in the lives of sixteen children placed in foster care. Showing up consistently, compassionately, and wholeheartedly. And since 2015, she walked alongside one sibling group of three, ensuring their voices were heard and their futures protected.

She saw every one of her cases through to the end — no matter how long it took, how complex it became, or how many turns the road held. Through her steadfast presence, she embodied what it truly means to stay the course — to be the constant in a child’s ever-changing world.

Sarah shared, "my journey as a CASA has been one of the most rewarding endeavors I have undertaken.  To connect with a child and a family that is in the midst of incredible trauma affirms my humanity."

As her active journey as a CASA advocate comes to a close, her commitment to this mission does not. While she may no longer be serving in the advocate role, she remains deeply connected to CASA Essex and to the belief that every child deserves a caring, consistent adult in their corner.

As CASA Essex celebrates forty years, her journey reminds us what this milestone is truly about: dedication that endures, compassion that doesn’t waiver, and hope that continues to shine, one child, one case at a time.

To this extraordinary volunteer — and to all who keep the light burning — thank you. Your commitment sustains CASA’s mission and proves that when we hold the candle together, the light only grows brighter.
