Module 1 - Birth to 12 Months

The first module in the Early Childhood Development series introduces CASA Advocates to the main developmental tasks and markers of development for infants in the first 12 months of life. The video discusses the first two important developmental tasks of life:  regulation and engagement. These two developmental tasks provide the foundation for all learning and development. Learn how CASA Advocates can promote an infant's development by supporting engaged caregiver behaviors.

 

Module 2 - Twelve to 36 Months 

The second module in the Early Childhood Development series discusses tasks that focus on the child being on the move and ready to explore the world around them. The video explores the emergence of gross motor milestones in children 12 months to two years of age. Learn how CASA Advocates can promote the development of children aged 12 to 36 months as they develop their independence through their ability to move, explore and communicate.

 

Module 3 - Three to Four Years 

The third module in the Early Childhood Development series discusses the themes of play and mastery. These themes touch upon the importance of a preschooler's ability to take initiative and to separate fantasy from reality. Learn how CASA Advocates can promote a preschooler's ability to bring thought to play and conversation as well as separate fantasy from reality.

 

Module 4 - Four to Five Years

The fourth module in the Early Childhood Development series discusses the two important developmental themes: social connectedness and school readiness. These developmental themes expand on a child’s ability to play cooperatively, emphasizing friendships and the growing awareness of emotional experiences and gender identity. Learn how CASA Advocates can help a child become more aware of themselves while developing basic social skills.
